Autumn in Southwest Mallorca, Our Favourite Time of Year

September is drawing to a close, and the island feels different now. The heat of August has eased, the crowds have thinned, and there is a softness to the afternoon light that we look forward to all year. For many of us at Molier Estates, autumn is quietly the best season in Southwest Mallorca.

The sea stays warm

One of the nicest surprises for people new to the island is how long the swimming season lasts. The water holds its summer warmth well into October, so a morning dip at Illetes or Cala Major is still very much on the table. The beaches are calmer too, which makes a long, slow day by the water feel like a treat rather than a battle for space.

Walks, markets and the harvest

As the temperature drops a few degrees, the coastal paths and the Serra de Tramuntana become a pleasure again. This is also harvest time, with grapes, almonds and olives coming in, and the weekly markets around Calvia and Santa Ponsa filling up with local produce. Lunch outdoors is still perfectly comfortable, and you rarely need to book weeks ahead.

Space to enjoy Palma

Palma comes back to life in a gentler way once the summer rush has passed. The restaurants have room again, the old town is easy to wander, and the golden evening light on the cathedral is worth the trip alone. It is a good reminder of why so many people decide to make this part of the island their home.
