Slow mornings, long evenings, and tips for a Mallorca weekend
Our second summer weekend edition: an early swim at Cala Llombards or Cala Deià, a long lunch at Toque de Queda, and a slow golden evening in Southwest Mallorca.
Friday again, and in summer, that's no small thing. If you've got the weekend ahead of you and fancy a few ideas, here's how we'd spend it: an early swim, a proper long lunch, cozy dinner, and an evening that's in no hurry to end.
Start the day with a swim
There’s no better way to begin a summer day in Mallorca than an early swim. Before the beaches fill up and the heat sets in, the sea is calm, crystal clear, and at its most peaceful.
This weekend, we'd head to Cala Llombards on the southeast coast, a beautiful cove with turquoise water, soft sand, and sheltered swimming conditions. If you're staying closer to Palma or the west coast, Cala Deià is another fantastic choice, tucked between the Tramuntana mountains with a rugged, authentic charm.
Whichever you choose, set off early to beat the crowds and secure parking. Bring plenty of water, and if you're visiting Cala Deià, a pair of water shoes will make getting in and out of the sea much more comfortable.
Take your time, switch off for a while, and simply enjoy one of the best parts of living in Mallorca.
End the day with a relaxed dinner
As the sun begins to set, there's no better way to end the day than gathering around a table with family or friends and enjoying great food at a leisurely pace.
One of our favourite evening spots is Toque de Queda, a cosy Spanish tapas bar and delicatessen tucked away just off La Rambla in the heart of Palma. Order a generous platter of Iberian ham and artisan cheeses, add a selection of classic tapas, pour a glass of wine, and let the evening unfold. It's the kind of place where conversations last for hours and every visit feels authentically Spanish.
If you're looking for somewhere to spend the afternoon beforehand, take a stroll through Mercat de Santa Catalina, browse the local produce and gourmet stalls, or enjoy a drink by the waterfront in Portixol before heading into Palma for dinner.
After all, in Mallorca, the best evenings aren't about rushing from one place to another—they're about slowing down, sharing good food, and making the most of the Mediterranean lifestyle.

Until next week
That’s how we’d spend a perfect summer day in Mallorca: an early swim in crystal-clear water, a leisurely afternoon enjoying great food, and an evening that unfolds at its own pace over good wine and even better company. Sometimes, the simplest days are the ones you remember most.
Wherever your weekend takes you, we hope you find time to slow down, switch off, and enjoy everything this beautiful island has to offer.
